This weekend we went on another adventure to competition. This time it was for the British Tumbling Semi Finals in Birmingham.
Back in February we took our competitive tumblers down to Haverford West to compete in the Welsh Championships. We had fantastic results from this competition with 10 of our tumblers qualifying to represent Wales in the British Semi Finals which took place on the 16th and 17th June at Arena Birmingham.
On Friday we travelled as a team down to Birmingham. Our first stop was podium training at the venue. The girls got to practice their tumbles, collect their Welsh kit and see the huge arena for the first time...
Across the weekend we had 9 gymnasts compete and represent Wales as a region. Deeside had the most tumblers to represent our region out of all the clubs in Wales. It was a great opportunity for our girls to compete as a part of Team Wales, they had lots of fun making new friends and working together with the rest of the Welsh tumblers as well as the trampoline and DMT teams too.

Competing at this level is a huge achievement for all of our gymnasts. Many of them have never competed at this level before and we are very proud of them for getting to this level and having the opportunity to perform in a large arena and represent their region.
Our coach Clare Rudd who was one of the coaches for team Wales at the competition said... "What a fantastic experience for our young tumblers, it's great to see them competing in a big arena as part of Team Wales".
All of the girls competed their 3 tumble runs and finished in the top 24 against the best tumblers in Great Britain at the their level.
A special mention to Ella Bothwell and Lily Jenkins who both finished in the top 10 in their categories.
And finally, a huge congratulations to Ella Bothwell for placing 7th and qualifying through to the British Finals in July at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
We had a fantastic weekend and are super happy to have had yet another successful competition and to have made even more memories as a team! Well done to all the gymnasts who competed! We look forward to the finals with Ella in July.
