This weekend Deeside Gymnastics Academy was host to the Welsh NDP Tumbling Championships. Gymnasts from all over Wales came to compete to qualify for a place in the British semi finals. This year Deeside had over 50 gymnasts entered in the competition across all the categories, from club to national level.
The competition started on Saturday with our club grade tumblers up first. This was most of these gymnasts first tumbling competition with our youngest competitor being just 6 years old. The girls had a great competition and came away with some fab results.

Next up to compete we had our national 1 tumblers. This was the first round of competition where gymnasts could begin to qualify for the British semi finals. To do this they had to place in the top 2 in their age group. Again in this round we had some fantastic results and 3 gymnasts qualified for the semi finals.

The amazing results continued into day 2 with our higher national levels competing. We had 9 more British qualifiers across all the different levels.

Overall we had 12 gymnasts qualify for the British semi finals, the most we have ever had!
Huge congratulations to Isabel, Lilly, Molly, Amelia, Isy, Grace, Lily, Megan, Phoebe, Ellie, Ciara and Deryn! These gymnasts will go on to represent Wales in the semi finals at Birmingham arena in june.
We are super proud of how hard our gymnasts have worked with both their tumbling and artistic grades happening over the next few weeks. Big thank you to our coaches and a huge well done to all of our gymnasts!!
